Samsung Acclaim gets Froyo
Been waiting on Froyo for the Samsung Acclaim on US Cellular? Well, wait no more, as the update’s now ready for download. It’s a 102-megabyte update. And while we’re usually fans of doing things over-the-air, Samsung’s done so well with the update software (it’s nicely done with handy built-in instructions) we’re more than willing to plug in our phones for a few minutes.
And just to stir the pot a bit with you tinfoil hat types, let’s reiterate what we have here: Samsung releases a Froyo update on a U.S. carrier. Just sayin’. Get your download on at the source link. [Samsung] Thanks, Backslasher!

US Cellular to include TeleNav on Samsung Acclaim [video]
Today is the launch of the Samsung Acclaim on US Cellular, and the nation’s sixth-largest carrier has a treat for everyone coming in to pick one up — the Acclaim (as well as other select handsets), will include Your Navigator Deluxe. Your Navigator Deluxe is a TeleNav powered turn-by-turn navigation system (very much like SprintNavigator for Sprint smartphones) that includes enhancements like comprehensive business listings and weather conditions. Many (this author included) prefer TeleNav products over the standard Google navigation because of the small extras like a personal launch page and details about your destination. In any case, more options is never a bad thing.
Check out a video overview of Your Navigator Deluxe and the full press release after the break. [TeleNav Blog]

U.S. Cellular to boast 4 Android phones
We’ve known for some time that U.S. Cellular was getting the HTC Desire, thanks to it being on the regional carrier’s rebate form. And now we’ve got a launch window. The Desire will be available in "early August."
Oh, but wait. There’s more. Another Samsung Android phone — to go along with the Acclaim, which is coming July 9 — is on the way, and LG will have an Android phone, too. That’ll give U.S. Cellular four Android phones — twice as many as AT&T. Who said the little guys can’t play big? Full presser after the break.

U.S. Cellular getting Samsung Acclaim on July 9
After first being spotted in May, U.S. Cellular has gone and made the Samsung Acclaim all official, with the regional carrier selling the mid-level phone in stores starting July 9. They’re also giving away 10 of the phones (you must have had your account since before May 31), so be sure to hit them up for that, too. [Facebook] Thanks to everyone who sent this in.

Samsung Acclaim outed … by Samsung
For those of you waiting for the Samsung Acclaim … well, here it is, outed by none other than Samsung itself. There’s been little doubt that it’d be an Android phone, and this seals the deal. You’ve also got a pretty basic four-row sliding QWERTY keyboard, along with what appears to be an optical trackpad on the front. And U.S. Cellular definitely is the carrier of choice, not that there was much doubt. [Samsung via Engadget]

Is this U.S. Cellular’s Samsung Acclaim?
When we heard that U.S. Cellular would exclusively carry the Samsung Acclaim, we wondered like you guys, what’s a Samsung Acclaim? Luckily, it looks like the Acclaim has been outed and it looks like a solid effort for the small regional carrier. The Acclaim packs a 3.2-inch HVGA screen with a physical QWERTY keyboard and some confusing but slick looking hardware buttons. Even better than the hardware is that when the Acclaim launches in July it’ll be rocking Android 2.1. The Acclaim is certainly shaping up to be a great device to add to U.S. Cellular’s burgeoning Android lineup. Score one for the little guy. [via Engadget Mobile]
New Samsung Acclaim Android phone coming, exclusively for U.S. Cellular
Check it out, Android lovers; U.S. Cellular has a new device joining its ranks this July. There already has been talk of the HTC Desire appearing on their network, and now it has announced the arrival of the Samsung Acclaim (R880). The Acclaim is going to be exclusive to the regional carrier and is reportedly very similar to its Sprint cousin – the Moment. Although considered a "mid-level" Android phone, the fact that its running Android 2.1 and has a QWERTY keyboard is definitely a big plus, and should be well received into U.S. Cellular’s arsenal.
