Olympus unveils SZ-31MR camera: 16 megapixels, 24x optical zoom

Japanese camera manufacturer Olympus has just introduced the successor to its SZ-30MR compact shooter. The new snapper not only sees a minimal increment on its stage name, SZ-31MR, but it also keeps the same 16-megapixel backlit sensor as its predecessor , as well as an identical 24x (25-600mm) optical zoom.

We’ve seen Nikon’s successor to the D700 slip out a few times this past winter, but this latest leak and its bevy of press images might just be the real deal. According to Brazilian site ZTOP , the company’s set to officially debut its 36.3-megapixel D800 tomorrow

Nikon Coolpix P510 arrives in London, we go hands-on (video)

You may have heard that Nikon’s revealed a few — well, a lot of — new cameras this week. Fortunately it wasn’t long until we were able to get to grips with some of the more interesting models. Unfortunately both the super-zooming Coolpix P510 (seen here) and the super-zooming P310 arrived sans battery, unwilling to be coaxed into working, but more than happy to show off how the finished unit would feel in the hand.

Panasonic adds Lumix DMC-TS4 and DMC-TS20 to ruggedized camera line

Panasonic has helped lead the market for ruggedized cameras, which have been a hit among adventurous photographers for years, and now the company has two new additions to add to its water/shock/freeze/dustproof cam line. Described as “the optical outdoor companion,” the Lumix DMC-TS4 is Panasonic’s new ruggedized flagship, replacing the TS3 and packing a 12.1 megapixel CCD sensor, 1080/60i HD video capture, a 4.6x 28-128mm optical zoom lens and 2.7-inch LCD.
