Dell has announced the prices for the much anticipated Streak and Aero Android phones.  The 5-inch Streak will be $299.99 with an eligible two-year AT&T agreement, and $549.99 if bought outright.  It’s normal-sized little brother, the Aer…

First, the good: Dell has confirmed that its 5-inch Streak mini-tablet will get Android 2.2 later this year through an over-the-air update. It will, however, still launch with Android 1.6. It will be available in black at launch, and in cherry r…

That rumored July 19 date for the Dell Streak has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean the 5-inch tablet-MID mashup isn’t imminent. On the contrary, Dell says it’s due in "late July," and it’s opening a 24-hour presale launch window with fre…

Dell Streak may hit AT&T ‘any day now’

The Samsung Captivate may not be the only major Android phone to hit AT&T this month. Engadget is speculating that the Dell Streak may hit stores "any day now." (Which is close to BGR’s rumored July 19 date.) The speculation comes from th…

Unlocked Dell Streak Android MID to be available in July

dell streak

If you’ve been itching to get your hands on the near indestructible Dell Streak (aka the Dell Mini 5) you’ll be happy to know that starting next month, it will be available directly through Dell’s own website. Since its being sold unlocked and unsubsidized, it takes a little sting out of the $500 price tag it carries. You’ll have the choice of being able to activate it over AT&T or T-Mobile’s networks, most likely, and you won’t be locked in to any 2-year contract. Even though our European friends are getting the Streak a little earlier than us (this Friday), fear not friends, we’re not too far off. [via Engadget]

Dell Streak’s screen has no problem taking a beating

The legendary (or is it mythical?) Dell Streak (Dell Mini 5) is finally almost here. However, what you might not have known is that its screen features the uber-resilient Gorilla Glass, which can take some ultra-heavy punishment. This 5-inch slate beauty is certainly a viable option for anybody who’s accident-prone, or anyone who wants to stab their screen frantically with sharp objects. The folks over at Engadget went with the latter, and from the looks of things, this MID’s only weakness might be kryptonite. [via Engadget]

Dell Streak coming to AT&T later this summer

We’ve heard that the Dell Streak, the sexy Android MID heretofore known as the Dell Mini 5, was headed to AT&T before. But haven’t heard official confirmation since. Until now that is. CEO Michael Dell showed off the Streak (again) at the Citrix Synergy conference and spilled the beans for us. To quote:

"[The Streak] will be available starting next month, first with our partner 02 Telefonica in Europe, then later this summer with our pretty good partner here in the United States, AT&T."

We’ve been really impressed with what we’ve seen in the Streak and hope that it can start a trend of awesome Android devices on AT&T. Remember, the Streak is expected to run Android 2.1 (will it be 2.2 by late summer?) and comes with a 5-inch screen, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 5-megapixel camera and your usual slew of connectivity options. We’d complain and wonder aloud why Europe is getting it first but hey, just getting a good Android device on AT&T is good enough. [eweek via Engadget]

Dell Aero passes through the FCC approval process

Dell Aero gets FCC approval

It’s getting closer.  First the Dell Aero showed up on AT&T’s website (with all the normal Google services!), now we see that the FCC has approved it for use in the United States.  Nothing we didn’t already know spec-wise, but the green light has been given and AT&T can start selling them whenever they are ready.  Of course no word on when it will be available or any pricing particulars, but rest assured as soon as we know you’ll find it here.

With all the other Dell Android news and rumors, is it too little too late?  To me this looks like a great introductory-level phone for people new to the Android platform, or the perfect handset for those who need a smaller, lighter phone.  Let us know what you think in the comments.  [FCC via Engadget]
