Alienware may have just upgraded its Aurora gaming rig , but that’s not to keep the company from giving more diminutive form factors some love. Just this evening, the subsidiary of Dell announced the X51, a slim gaming PC that’s designed to orient itself either vertically or horizontally on the desktop — complete with an Alienware logo that properly rotates depending on positioning. The system includes both Core i3 and i5 options, and features a slot-loading optical drive with an option for Blu-ray.

Apple remains conspicuous by its absence (again) at this year’s CES , but preliminary shipment estimates for PCs sold in Q4 2011 show that the company appears to be bucking the generally declining trend .

Dell Said to be Reentering Tablet Market Later This Year

If you haven’t realized it by now, Dell has sort of dissipated from the tablet and mobile game. Their Streak devices haven’t done so well in a market that has quickly evolved. It looks like they haven’t slowed down on their efforts to bring a compelling device to market, though, as Reuters reports they’re getting ready to introduce a new tablet device later this year.

Although we wouldn’t go as far as saying the Streak 5 is coming out of its grave , we can tell you that Dell is making an effort to help it regain consciousness — which is great news for those of you who own the device. Don’t mind that ICS is here, or that it’s been 12 months since we first met Android 2.3 , what’s important is that the smartphone / tablet is ready to get its first (official) taste of some Gingerbread goodness. Needless to say, we know you’re thrilled to make the OS transition, but before you do so, hit up the source link for all the nitty-gritty from the XDA folks to help guide you in your quest.

With Dell contemplating its future in the Android tablet business, the Streak 7 has been discontinued, just as the Streak 5 before it . A quick visit to the Dell website reveals only a message that the Streak 7 is no longer available online when looking for the device.

Lenovo LePad S2005 vs. Dell Streak 5… cuddle!

It’s inevitable that these two 5-inch tabletphones — the Dell Streak 5 on the left and the Lenovo LePad S2005 on the right — are to meet in the Chinese capital. With the exception of the slightly taller body on the S2005 everything else are suspiciously similar, especially the button and camera layout.

Dell finally swaps BlackBerry smartphones for Venue Pros, now that nobody else wants one

Wouldn’t you know it, but a full year after we originally reported the story, Dell has finally made good on that promise to replace its BlackBerry smartphones with the company’s own Venue Pro handsets — for the most part, anyway. You see, of the 30,000 BlackBerry units currently in deployment, Dell has swapped approximately 15,000 of them. Still, the glass appears to be half full in Round Rock, with the company’s Chief Information Officer, Robin Johnson, touting the alleged cost-savings of the switcheroo. For its part, RIM has called the move a sheer publicity stunt. Hey, why can’t it be both?
