WiFi Kindle Touch gets its passport, now available internationally
Ever since Amazon unveiled its cheap-as-chips Kindle Touch , the thing’s been selling like mad here in the US. However, our friends on other continents haven’t been able to enjoy swiping and tapping its multitouch E Ink display — until now, that is. Amazon failed to alert the masses with a press release, but a quick gander at the WiFi Touch’s product page shows there’s an option to ship one just about anywhere on the globe

Amazon’s just announced its earnings for the fourth quarter of the year, and it’s a bit of a mixed bag. While net sales were up 35 percent year-over-year to $17.43 billion, net income dropped a hefty 58 percent to $177 million, or 38 cents a share — that’s off analysts’ expectations, who were looking for sales in the neighborhood of $18.3 billion and earnings of 17 cents a share

Apple launches iBooks 2 e-Textbook platform
We’re here at Apple’s education-flavored event at the Guggenheim museum in New York City. Phil Schiller has just taken to the stage and announced the first half of Apple’s platform that’s going to “reinvent the textbook:” iBooks 2. Saying that there were 1.5 million iPads currently in use in Education (using 20,000 specific apps), the revamped book-stand now includes education-specific features to help the budding students of the world
