Unannounced Verizon HTC phone leaks, is it the Droid Incredible 2/HD?
What’s that you say? Another leaked HTC phone? This time it’s clearly slated for Verizon. And judging by the rear of the thing (which you can see in the picture after the break), it’s almost a dead ringer for a follow up to the Droid Incredible (which is also peeking in at right in the picture above.)
Looks like HTC might well be moving to one of those invisible capacitive button deals — much like how the buttons seem to disappear on the Nexus S, or a few of the Samsung Galaxy S phones. That hasn’t be our most favorite feature, but to each his own.
It’s possible we might see this guy at Mobile World Congress, but we’re not betting on it, given the often Euro/Asia nature of the event. One more pic after the break. [Mobile01 via Engadget]

A big ol’ Dell advertisement just hit ye olde inbox, and they’ve got some decent deals on a few Android smartphones. The Droid Incredible is going for the low, low price of free for new or upgrading customers who sign a two-year contract. They’re throwing in free Verizon activation and shipping, too, plus a $25 Dell gift card. Also, the Evo 4G — white and black — is going for $99 on contract, and the Droid X is just $9.99. Tough deals to beat. [Dell]

How to manually apply the Droid Incredible maintenance update
For those of you who just can’t wait to get that maintenance update for the HTC Droid Incredible, we’ve got the download location and instructions. It’s all on the up and up, it’s just that you’re manually applying the update instead of waiting on it. It’s the exact same update. Here you go:
- Grab the OTA file here from the Android Central Forums.
- Make sure it’s named update.zip
- Copy it to the root (base directory) of your SD card. Don’t put it in any folders, and don’t put it on the internal memory.
- Shut your phone off
- While holding the volume down button, turn the phone back on.
- In the white Bootloader screen, select recovery from the list.
- In the recovery screen (the triangle with exclamation mark), press volume up and power. You’ll go to the recovery menu.
- In the recovery menu, select "apply sdcard:update.zip"
- The phone will find the file, and when finished prompt you to reboot. Reboot via the menu, then patiently wait for the phone to reboot, and enjoy.
A reminder that if you’re rooted, this’ll break it. Need more help? Find it in our Droid Incredible Forums.

Droid Incredible maintenance update starting to trickle in
Looks like the Droid Incredible update — the one that along with a host of bugfixes puts Verizon’s VCAST app store thingy on your phone (hurray?) — is finally pushing out. Loyal reader Kenneth sends word (and the above screen shot). So if you’re going to the stock route, go grab it. And if anyone wants to snag us the manual download location (here’s how), that’d be great, too! More in the Droid Incredible forums

Verizon Droid Incredible retired? Not yet
Say it ain’t so! The venerable HTC Droid Incredible has been retired by Verizon? Not so much, actually. Remember that the Droid Incredible disappeared for a while and returned with an SCLD touchscreen in place of the AMOLED screen, which quickly found itself in short supply.
So never fear, folks. Out with the old and in with the new, and the Droid Incredible’s not going anywhere anytime soon — at least not before the LTE (and HD) version shows up. One more pic after the break.

Verizon’s tiered data plan details leaked
We all knew it was coming, and now we have a bit of the details — and they aren’t as bad as anyone thought. As you can see above, Verizon will still be offering unlimited data to 3G smartphone customers, and they have added in a very light version that should appeal to the people who aren’t using a ton of data each month — you know, the normal people. What’s not quite as appealing is the 3G Tablet plan breakdown, but with no word from other carriers that could be as good or better than anything the other carriers are offering. The short version for what we’re told will start Oct. 28:
3G smartphone plans
- $15 per month for 150 MB
- $15 for each 150 MB of overage
- $29.99 unlimited data
3G Tablet plans
- $20 for 1 GB (with $20 per GB overage)
- $35 for 3 GB (with $10 per GB overage)
- $50 for 5 GB (with $10 per GB overage)
- $80 for 10 GB (with $10 per GB overage)
What say you? Better or worse than expected? Sound off in our Verizon forum! Thanks, anonymous tipster!

From the Forums: Redemption Rom 2.0.2 for the Droid Incredible
Listen up all you Droid Incredible folks who went ahead and rooted: There’s a new Sense ROM on the table that looks like a sure-fire winner — Redemption Rom v 2.0.2. It’s got everything you’d expect from a custom ROM, and then some. Busybox, DSP manager, the new Google apps, all the goodies. The developers have even baked in some very handy third party applications to make life easy and save you the trouble of tracking them down on your own. Add in a wicked custom look and theme, and you’ve got the makings of a great OS for your beloved Dinc.
Of course, you need to be rooted and unlocked, but we have you covered with that, too. What are you waiting for? Someone get this installed and let me know what ya think — I love me some Sense custom ROMs. Follow the source link to check it out, and read the complete installation instructions. [Android Central Forums] Thanks to HeyItsLou and crew for all the hard work!
