New HTC Studio Division for Hero Device Philosophy Formed

Just a day after HTC admitted that their 2011 portfolio was uninspiring and below the standard that they’d like to meet, it looks like they will be creating a new division to help streamline their processes for 2012. Namely, HTC has created a Studio division which will report directly to Peter Chou, their CEO. This division will overlook the new Hero Devices philosophy of creating consumer-desired devices.

HTC Ville once more smiles for the camera

HTC will give us our first taste of their 2012 smartphone lineup at Mobile World Congress, but Japanese site Ameblo is giving us a look at one handset a few weeks early. The HTC Ville appears in a series of images only slightly less blurry than a video of the rumored dual-core device that came online last week.

After a long streak of skyrocketing earnings, HTC’s climb towards the stars seems to have stalled . Q4 was not kind to the company and CFO Winston Yung thinks he knows the reason why. During the today’s earnings call Yung admitted that HTC “dropped the ball” with its selection of LTE devices

As far back as September, security researchers discovered a “critical” bug in many HTC Android handsets that exposed users’ WiFi credentials to any hacker who cared to look. The flaw affected recent devices like the Thunderbolt and EVO 4G all the way back to the Desire HD . The researchers promptly notified HTC, but the manufacturer waited a full five months before acknowledging the flaw publicly a few days ago

You may have already moved on to more Amaze -ing HTC phones , but there’s nothing like a new coat of paint to rekindle consumer interest in its older, less Sensation al offerings. And so, the handset that ushered in Sense 3.0 and its signature lockscreen is getting a visual refresh and a belly full of Google’s latest mobile OS, just not at the same time.
