Android 2.2 coming to Virgin Mobile USA Samsung Intercept this spring
Although Sprint had some issues with rolling the update out back in December, causing it to be delayed until January 4th, Virgin Mobile USA is making sure they have their update working fine as kind before release. Yes, Samsung Intercept owners on Virgin Mobile US will be able to get their Android 2.2 update come spring. When, exactly, was not noted but we’ll be sure to let you all know if and when we find out more. Thanks girldroid! [Twitter]

Samsung Intercept’s Froyo update may come starting Dec. 17
Have a Sprint Samsung Intercept and are still waiting on Android 2.2? Looks like it’s just about here. In addition to the second-newest Android operating system (sorry, but we’re all going to have to get used to that), you get a few bugfixes, including one for dropped calls, force closes on messages, inability to access google.com (really!?!?), phone contacts, and TeleNav GPS has been added. And because it’s Froyo, wireless tethering is available — for an extra $29.99 a month. If the date in the Sprint Playbook is to believed, we should start seeing updates in the next day or so.

Virgin Mobile Samsung Intercept spotted at Target
Only just a few days ago Virgin Mobile announced via Facebook that it soon would offer the Samsung Intercept as its first Android device. Virgin didn’t drop any dates, but apparently it’s showing up in Target stores, priced at $249.99. Target is pretty good with its pre-paid sales — keep an eye on those Sunday ads, people. Be sure to head on over the the forums to see what people think about the phone. [Submitted via the Android Central App]

Virgin Mobile getting the Samsung Intercept
Virgin Mobile has joined the wonderful world of Android, with the Samsung Intercept as its first device. The happy marriage was announced on Facebook, and no information was released on pricing or availability. Virgin Mobile promised more info would be coming soon, which is darn nice of them. Samsung Intercept available Sunday, July 11, for $100 after contract with Sprint
We had a post all about finding the Intercept available for pre-order at the Sprint evp site ready to go, and then the press release rolled in. Sprint has announced that the Samsung Intercept, the successor to the venerable Samsung Moment will be available Sunday, July 11, for $99 after rebate two-year agreement. It’s not the beast of a phone that the Epic 4G will be, but it certainly looks like a solid mid-level handset and at just under a hundred bucks comes at a decent price point. Hit the break for the full press release from Sprint.

Sprint Samsung Intercept called onto the carpet for an early video hands-on
Looks like somebody sold a Sprint Samsung Intercept just a tad early at Best Buy Mobile for $100. It appears to share the same horizontal sliding keyboard as the upcoming Galaxy S line, though the guts of the thing definitely are the lower end, with with a 3.2-megapixel camera, none of that 1GHz Hummingbird processor stuff, and the graphics processing power that comes with it. But regardless, this should be a pretty solid lower-end Android smartphone when it’s available in a week. Check out the video after the break. Thanks, DocWllk!

Samsung SPH-M910 (Intercept) photos leaked
Here’s a few pictures of the Samsung Intercept (SPH-M910), another new Sammy to be released on the Sprint network (rumors say July 11). Supposedly the replacement for the Samsung Moment, and after seeing these pics I have to agree. Should be shipping with Eclair (Android 2.1) and a 3.2 inch touchscreen, but not many of the other details can be confirmed. We should know more after tonight’s big Samsung event in New York, which we’re covering live tonight at 6 PM EST.
What we can be sure of, is that the 4 row QWERTY with trackpad should appeal to people who need the physical keys, but need something a little smaller than the new breed of 4 inch plus superphones. And it comes in pink. Hit the break to see another pic showing a bit better detail of the QWERTY.
