Thunderbolt ROM booting on the Evo 4G, and a new leak can only make it better
Things like the HTC Thunderbolt ROM booting up on the Sprint Evo 4G is the reason we all get excited over ROM leaks and dumps. I know many of you get tired of reading how these things mean a lot to the developers even if they don’t do much for the average end user, but good things come to those who wait. XDA-Developers member and Evo 4G genius Caulkin has the Thunderbolt ROM up and running, though he says it still has a few issues that need worked out.
Speaking of leaked RUU’s, a new one leaked today that may help get things moving along — you can get that one yourself at the source link if you are able to chip in and lend a hand.
As of this writing there’s no public download for the Evo port, but it’s one to keep your eye on for sure. We certainly will. [XDA-Developers; 911HTC via Droid-Life]

Sprint says Froyo for Epic 4G just a leak, advises not to install
Contrary to what you might be reading elsewhere, the DK28 Froyo firmware for the Sprint Epic 4G is not the official Froyo build. According to Sprint’s Epic Product Manager:
…this is not approved software for Sprint production devices and we strongly recommend that users refrain from loading it.
While we’re sure this is news nobody wanted to hear, but it could be important in the future when the official update does roll out. Ask an Evo 4G user or two about that. [Sprint support forums]

MyTouch 4G media roundup [From the Forums]
A new device usually means a new leak of the ROM, which means new media to put on our devices! The new HTC Sense UI means most of the goodies don’t ship with the device, instead you download pre-built themes from HTC. Thankfully T-Mobile has provided us with three pre-installed theme bundles, and we sucked out anything and everything we could. Check the links below, and if you’re not getting the myTouch 4G, maybe your current phone can look like one.
- The full system dump from the leaked ROM is right here.
- You can grab all three new themes, all unpacked and ready to port right here.
- There’s four new high resolution wallpapers, grab ‘em here.
- And if you’re on the hunt for some chillaxin’ ringtones done the HTC way, grab a couple here.
Of course if you are planning on grabbing the MyTouch 4G as soon as you can get your hot little hands on it, join in the fun and chat about it in our MyTouch forums. [Android Central Forums]

MyTouch 4G shows itself off in video included in ROM leak
A lot of cool stuff can show up in a ROM leak, and the leak from the upcoming MyTouch 4G is no exception. Besides the apps, and low-level stuff only of interest to the hackers and development community, this time we get a really cool video showing the MyTouch 4G and some of its features. Yes, it’s sideways, it was designed to be viewed on the phone — but it’s still really cool to get a glimpse before we’re supposed to. Hit the break to see it!
Update: Converted the video so it’s right-side up.

HTC Bee ROM leak shows up, with Alltel branding
We talked about the HTC Bee a few times since last June, but finally proof of its existence has appeared via the Chinese blog 911HTC. They got their hands on a leaked RUU for the unit, and Alltel branding is showing up in the files. The Bee looks very entry-level, much like the Aria, with a 528 MHz Qualcomm CPU, 348 MB of RAM, and a smallish quarter-VGA display.
What may be the most interesting thing is the Alltel branding. Alltel and Verizon merged a while back, but Alltel remains a separate entity, and still operates in a handfull of U.S. states, and even carries an Android device — the HTC Hero and Motorola Milestone. Could this one be headed there as well, or will it join the pool of Android phones on Verizon? [911HTC via Pocketnow]

Nexus One gets a new software leak, Froyo version FRG33
The Nexus One will never die. Today we see an new software leak, in the form of a complete packaged ROM (courtesy of Football @ xda) with the FRG33 tag on board. I haven’t had a chance to load it up just yet, but the few that have say it seems a bit faster, has the new radio that was in the Korean Nexus One launch, but doesn’t have the new Google apps on board.
If you’re feeling adventurous, hit the source link and give it a whirl. Be sure to let us know how it turns out in the forums! [xda-developers] Thanks, Daniel, for the tip!
