The Samsung Galaxy WiFi has finally launched in the United Kingdom. It’s the 5 inch version and it has a 1GHz single-core processor, Android 2.3 and more. It’s essentially a Galaxy S without the phone guts and with a much larger display. Watch out for it in your favorite shops online or at brick and mortar retail. Samsung’s officially announced availability for their smaller Galaxy Tab 8.9 and their Samsung Galaxy Player devices clocking in at 4 inches and 5 inches. The Galaxy Tab 8.9 will be here October 2nd and comes in two flavors. The 16GB version can be yours for $470 while the 32GB will be available $570. Both come with NVIDIA’s dual-core Tegra 2 processor and run Honeycomb, though Samsung’s TouchWiz UX can be found on top.

As for those Samsung Galaxy Players, the 4 inch variant is coming in at $230 with the 5 inch variant coming in at $270. They both offer 8GB of internal storage, 802.11n WiFi, dual cameras, Bluetooth 3.0, microUSB and Android market support. Read on for full press details.

Philips has finally made their GoGear Connect PMP available for presale. It’s an Android-based device that looks like it could still be on Froyo, but we can’t say for sure. If you need something this size (3.2 inches) and just want a cheap device to play your content on, give it a look.

There’s an 8GB version available for $170 while a 16GB version costs $200. Both models offer WiFi and the ability to expand storage with a microSD card. For the price you should at least consider it up against other options (and it doesn’t look half bad to begin with). [8GB, 16GB]

We’ve finally got video of the Walkman Z that Sony announced earlier. We expected this thing to take cues from Sony Ericsson’s latest crop of Android phones but Sony has instead decided to go in a different direction and create the UI specifically for Walkman.

After watching the video, we’re glad they did. From this first glance, media management and playback seems robust and flexible and the UI is smooth for the most part. We’re not sure if this device will give us the genuine Android experience (homescreens with widgets) but at least Android market will be in tow. Take a look above, courtesy of DigInfo.

Sony wants the Walkman brand to make a comeback and will aim to make that happen with Android at the helm. While this isn’t the first time we’ve seen and heard of the device (Sony Ericsson made quick mention of it at IFA in Berlin earlier this month) it is the first time we’ve gotten concrete details and pricing/availability information.

We’re apparently getting three different configurations with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB for 28,000 yen, 33,000 yen and 43,000 yen, respectively. It’s a 4.3 inch WVGA device with a 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, Android 2.3, microHDMI, WiFi, Bluetooth, DLNA and an FM Radio alongside Sony Ericsson’s smattering of music apps to make this an ultimate multimedia device.

I must say – I certainly wouldn’t mind carrying one of these around. The nostalgia alone would be enough to justify the cost of admission but a PMP device this powerful is something many of us have been waiting for (only Samsung previously offered a respectable model). Following a string of exciting announcements this morning, Samsung has also announced a new addition to their “WiFi” line of Galaxy S products. It’s the Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 3.6 and, as the name suggests, will be a 3.6 inch rendition of the PMP for those who don’t need a huge screen for multimedia.

Inside will be a 1GHz OMAP processor (unusual considering Samsung makes one of the nicest chipsets around), a 2MP rear camera, a front-facing camera, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth and either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage. If an iPod Touch isn’t your thing and you want something sure to be a bit cheaper, look no further.

Samsung has finally officially launched both products within their new Galaxy S WiFi lineup – the 4 inch and 5 inch editions. The former is more like the phone itself with no cellular radios inside for voice or data, while the latter stretches the boundaries just as deal did with the original Streak. (Except the original Streak was actually meant to be used as a phone.) Switzerland is getting the bigger brother while Russia and other countries should be getting the 4 incher. We’d long known of Samsung’s plans to introduce an iPod Touch competitor – the Samsung Galaxy Player – to market, but they didn’t have anything official to show until CES where the 4-inch version for Korea was on hand. At Mobile World Congress, we were treated to a look at a 5 inch version that had the same internals of a Samsung Galaxy S sans 3G radios.

At that time, they had nothing to announce as far as availability in other regions, but Electronista has heard that the device will be coming to the United States. The only timeframe Samsung had to offer was Spring, but no specifics as far as early, mid, or late season.
