U.S. Dell Streak may skip Eclair, go straight to Froyo
The bad news: The U.S. version of the Dell Streak launched with Android 1.6. The good news: It might skip Android 2.1 altogether and go straight to Android 2.2. Normally I’d never pass up a perfectly good Eclair (to which my waistline would sadly nod its head in agreement), but in this case I’ll make an exception. A leap to Froyo would make sense, and let’s hope we start seeing a few other phones (cough, Xperia X10) follow suit. [@LionelAtDell via Engadget]

Dell Streak, Logitech bluetooth keyboard combine for awesomeness
Just bask for a moment in the pure awesomeness that is the above picture … oh, yeah. So, Jenn Lee at Streak Smart had the amazing idea of paring a new Dell Streak with a Logitech diNovo Mini bluetooth keyboard to create the 5-inch MID you really want: Android-powered, and oh yeah, it’s also a phone with 3G data.
The diNovo Mini is actually designed to be a portable keyboard for your HTPC or media center, but it works just fine here. This pairing is only possible because Dell has wisely chosen to allow the Streak to work with Bluetooth keyboards, a feature we haven’t yet seen in stock Android. The article recommends using some tape to keep the Streak fastened to the inside of the diNovo’s lid and propping said lid against something firm to keep the whole thing from falling over backwards. This thing would be perfect for a long plane ride, especially as you could bring an extra battery for the Streak.
As the diNovo doesn’t have a "Menu" button, the two devices aren’t 100 percent seamlessly compatible, but the keyboard does have a light sensor for backlighting, which is also awesome. This sort of device is what gets me really excited to see full Android or Chrome OS netbooks in the future. Click on the link for more details and pictures. [Streak Smart]

The Dell Streak shows off its bluetooth support in style
In another display of Android awesomeness, the Dell Streak shows off it’s skills by using a full size Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Not just any keyboard and mouse though, this time around we’re seeing it drive an Apple wireless keyboard and a Magic Mouse. I’ll bet someone in Cupertino isn’t very happy about this, but here at Android Central we’re loving it.
Even better, it’s doing this out of the box — no hacking or wizardry needed. Combine with the Streak’s 5-inch screen with a real keyboard and mouse and it looks like a tiny little desktop computer. Should be awfully nice to reply to all your e-mail with this rig though. Check out the rest of the pics and see a video in action after the break. [Streak Smart via [Engadget]

Dell Streak coming to AT&T later this summer
We’ve heard that the Dell Streak, the sexy Android MID heretofore known as the Dell Mini 5, was headed to AT&T before. But haven’t heard official confirmation since. Until now that is. CEO Michael Dell showed off the Streak (again) at the Citrix Synergy conference and spilled the beans for us. To quote:
"[The Streak] will be available starting next month, first with our partner 02 Telefonica in Europe, then later this summer with our pretty good partner here in the United States, AT&T."
We’ve been really impressed with what we’ve seen in the Streak and hope that it can start a trend of awesome Android devices on AT&T. Remember, the Streak is expected to run Android 2.1 (will it be 2.2 by late summer?) and comes with a 5-inch screen, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 5-megapixel camera and your usual slew of connectivity options. We’d complain and wonder aloud why Europe is getting it first but hey, just getting a good Android device on AT&T is good enough. [eweek via Engadget]
Dell Mini 5 ‘Streak’ shown in promo flyer, including Kindle support
We already knew that the Dell Mini 5 ‘Streak’ was gorgeous when we saw it in pictures, it’s good to know that it’s looking just as amazing in leaked low-res promotional flyers too. The promo flyers are the first advertisements we’re seeing for the Dell Mini 5 ‘Streak’, the Android-powered 5-inch device that pulls double duty as a phone. It also confirms some specs: 5 megapixel camera, 5-inch 800×480 screen, and a front facing VGA camera for video chatting. For the creative among us, the Dell Mini 5 will be available in all the colors you’d ever want and can even rock personal designs.
And even more exciting is the slide that shows a Kindle book reader application appears to be in the works. Will it be Streak-specific, or is Kindle finally coming to Android? Either way, we can’t wait to use the Dell Mini 5 ‘Streak’. Or at least, get a price on this puppy.

Dell Mini 5 Update: Headed to AT&T & T-Mobile, Maybe Runs Android 2.1
The Dell Mini 5, which is a sleek and sexy MID-styled device we’ve seen before, just got hit with some new news. It’s expected to release in the US on both AT&T and T-Mobile and will maybe, hopefully run Android 2.1.
To expand, the exact wording is that it’ll be running "something newer" than Android 1.6 which means either Android 2.0 or 2.1 (or maybe something even newer?), and with Android 2.1 being all the rage right now, it’d be almost foolish for them to release the Dell Mini 5 without it. The AT&T and T-Mobile news is interesting (but not unexpected) because we’re not really sure who would use this as a phone. Sure, it comes with your typical phone functionality but is it practical to use a device that packs a 5-inch touchscreen as your daily driver? Would people buy it with a contract? We’d imagine more people would buy it unlocked for use as a MID or tablet-styled device. But what do we know.
Overall, the Dell Mini 5 looks amazing and looks to run just as amazing with its 1GHz Snapdragon processor. Dell would definitely have to hit the right price point for this device to succeed and we’re definitely hopeful for it. We’ll try to get our own hands on soon!
