Samsung Intercept available Sunday, July 11, for $100 after contract with Sprint

samsung intercept

We had a post all about finding the Intercept available for pre-order at the Sprint evp site ready to go, and then the press release rolled in.  Sprint has announced that the Samsung Intercept, the successor to the venerable Samsung Moment will be available Sunday, July 11, for $99 after rebate two-year agreement.  It’s not the beast of a phone that the Epic 4G will be, but it certainly looks like a solid mid-level handset and at just under a hundred bucks comes at a decent price point.  Hit the break for the full press release from Sprint.

Samsung SPH-M910 (Intercept) photos leaked

samsung intercept

Here’s a few pictures of the Samsung Intercept (SPH-M910), another new Sammy to be released on the Sprint network (rumors say July 11).  Supposedly the replacement for the Samsung Moment, and after seeing these pics I have to agree. Should be shipping with Eclair (Android 2.1) and a 3.2 inch touchscreen, but not many of the other details can be confirmed.  We should know more after tonight’s big Samsung event in New York, which we’re covering live tonight at 6 PM EST.

What we can be sure of, is that the 4 row QWERTY with trackpad should appeal to people who need the physical keys, but need something a little smaller than the new breed of 4 inch plus superphones.  And it comes in pink.  Hit the break to see another pic showing a bit better detail of the QWERTY.

Sprint roadmap leaked, shows new Android phones, more 4G locations

Sprint roadmap

Well what have we here?  Looks like a screenshot of Sprint’s latest playbook, and there are a few interesting things for Android lovers on the list.  July 11 looks to be a good day.  First up would be the Motorola i1 (see our hands-on) hitting the shelves at your local Sprint store.  If you don’t remember, that’s the mid-spec military grade Android handset with push-to-talk functions.  Perfect for the jobsite, or the tackle box.  We also have the addition of Nextel Direct Connect on Sprint plans — not sure what to expect here, but launching in tandem with the Moto i1 makes it something to keep an eye on.  Next up is the rollout of 4G in more cities.  We can see the whole line here, but what’s visible is:

  • Merced, Calif.
  • Rochester, New York
  • Eugene, Ore.
  • Syracuse, New York
  • Tri-cities ares of Washington (Kennewick, Richland and Pasco)
  • Visalia, Calif.
  • Yakima, Wash.

Put that $10 premium data fee to good use if you’re living in one of these cities!  And last, but not least, the launch of the Samsung Intercept M910.  We saw this one go through the FCC not too long ago and may well be the Moment 2.  Something tells me the fellas will learn a bit more about this one when they head back to the big apple for the Samsung event next week.  Stay tuned, you know you’ll get all the details as they happen right here at Android Central. Is this the Samsung Moment 2?

Samsung Moment 2

That blurry little feller you see? Reportedly it’s the Samsung Moment 2 — SPH-M910, for those of you into such things. Not too much to go on, other than it has Android 2.1 and TouchWiz 3.0 — before you groan, that’s the same version as is on the Galaxy S. Also, there’s no Super AMOLED screen. For that matter, it’s not said whether it’s regular ol’ AMOLED, normal OLED, LED, unleaded or whatever.

Other bulleted specs you can glean simply by looking at it: It’s a Sprint device, it has a four-row QWERTY keyboard, and the three capacitive buttons on the original Moment have gained a search button (and it’s about time). No word on pricing, availability, or whether this is all just some blurry figment of our imagination. One more pic after the break. [WeRAndroid via BGR]
