Motorola Shadow gets its WiFi certification

Whoa!  The WiFi Alliance certified the (likely Android) Motorola MB810 today for IEEE Standard 802.11 b/g/n.  Yes, that’s the Shadow, and I know a lot of us have been waiting for more info about this screamer.  Still no concrete details or specs, but in case you forgot here’s what we think we know:-

  • Full Qwerty landscape slider
  • 4.3-inch capacitive screen
  • 1080p playback
  • Android 2.2
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • 8MP autofocus camera
  • microSD slot
  • AT&T 3G GSM radio

If you’re an AT&T subscriber, start gathering up the change from your ashtray and from deep down in the couch.  This is one you don’t wanna miss out on. [via Phonedog]

Motorola MT820 pictured, does 3D ?

Could that weird Motorola Android device we saw last week actually be the Motorola MT820 pictured above? The button arrangement is different but the transparent flip screen, camera placement, and general shape is very familiar. If they’re not the same phone (one being prototype, other being final), they at least have to be part of the same family right?

The MT820 certainly looks a lot better than what we previously saw but that could be the higher resolution shots talking. We’re still unsure about the whole ‘flip’ form factor but rumors are suggesting that the extra screen allows the MT820 to display 3D images. The MT820 is headed to China’s TD-SCDMA network, which means we’ll likely never see the phone. Not like we were dying for it in this first place, the form factor is still too weird and 3D is currently more a gimmicky feature than anything. What do you guys think? Do we want 3D on our phones yet? Ever?

Review: Motorola Devour on Verizon

Motorola Devour review

The Motorola Devour (video hands-on) came at a tough point in the smartphone world. It’s the first Android device from Moto and Verizon to come after the wildly popular Droid. And while we pretty much knew from the get-go that we weren’t looking at a Droid 2 — the smaller screen was an early giveaway — that didn’t really seem to lower expectations. In some ways, Moto met them. In others, not so much.

So join us after the break as we take a look at the Motorola Devour and find its place in the Android lineup.

Motorola Droid’s Android 2.1 update status updated on Facebook

Motorola Droid update status

Not much to say other than Motorola’s still working on the Android 2.1 update for the Droid, but at least a Facebook update is better than nothing, right? For what it’s worth, we pestered everybody we could at CTIA to try and get a better answer, but to no avail. Here’s the full text of the facebook post:

We know you guys are anxiously awaiting the upgrade from 2.0 to 2.1. Ultimately, we want to ensure you have the best possible experience on your device; as a result, the rollout is taking longer than expected. Though we don’t have the new deployment date to share just yet, we do promise we are working to get you updated information and will relay it as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience. We appreciate it

Hang in there, folks. [Facebook]

AT&T commercials show off Backflip, poke fun at Verizon yet again

AT&T just released a few commercials showcasing the Motorola Backflip and didn’t mention Android once. Instead, they focus on taking another stab at Verizon, boasting that the AT&T network can talk and surf the web at the same time while the Verizon network can’t. It’s interesting how AT&T is approaching their Android devices, stripping Google search in favor of Yahoo and now advertising an Android device without mentioning Android? To each their own, we guess.

Anyway, is talking and surfing the web at the same time a big deal for you guys?

hit the jump to see the AT&T commericals about the Backflip!
