Motorola Cliq 2.1 leak — yes, Blur and Eclair now play together

Your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you, that’s really Android 2.1 (Eclair) + Motoblur running on a Motorola Cliq.  It’s not official (of course) but reports are mostly good — you might have to recreate your Blur account, and it’s pretty laggy unt…

Cliq and Backflip owners, Motorola has not forgotten you

Good news for Cliq, Cliq XT and Backflip users — Motorola has set up mailing lists for you to stay abreast of the news about your Eclair (Android 2.1) update.  Again, Moto is using the phrase ‘when the 2.1 arrives’ and not if.  You’ll need t…

Cliq XT maintenance update being rolled out now

Looks like the maintenance update that was being tested on the Cliq XT is now being rolled out to everybody. It’s in two parts, so you’ll need to do both of them. The update brings you fixes to:

  • Improves Overall Phone Performance
  • Visual Voice Mail Enhancements
  • Bluetooth Audio
  • Camera Correction
  • Screen/Display Performance
  • Text Messaging Improvements
  • Touch Screen Enhancement

And we’re reminded that, no, it’s not Android 2.1. Gonna have to wait a little longer for that. [T-Mobile]

Maintenance update being tested for Motorola Cliq XT

Motorola Cliq XT

The Motorola Cliq XT (see our hands-on) has only been available for a month or so, and a maintenance update apparently already is on the way. Scheduled for improvement are:

  • Improves Overall Phone Performance: Generally improves data connectivity while reducing the occurrence of freeze-ups, resets, and random forced quits.
  • Visual Voice Mail Enhancements: Enhanced design and interaction for Visual Voice Mail.
  • Bluetooth Audio Improvements to Bluetooth audio while streaming.
  • Camera Correction: Addresses instances of camera randomly freezing after taking a picture, and helps correct intermittent resets while camera and video applications are in use.
  • Screen/Display Performance: Improves backlight performance for the display.
  • Text Messaging Improvements: General improvements to text messaging – especially for longer text message threads.
  • Touch Screen Enhancement Improves overall sensitivity of the touch screen.

The update’s available for just 1,000 people right now, and we should see wider release shortly. [Motorola via TmoNews]

Motorola Cliq XT now available for $129, not $99 as first believed

T-Mobile has officially launched the Motorola Cliq XT. That’s the good news. The bad news is that contrary to what we previously were told by TMoToday, the Cliq XT will retail for $129 on new 2-year contract and not the previously rumored $99. The slight price bump isn’t ideal and leaves us a bit disappointed but hey, what can you do, carriers rarely "get" pricing like we would want them to. In any case, the Motorola Cliq XT is a full touchscreen device that runs Motoblur. And it’s pretty nice. [t-mobile]

Cliq XT launching March 17th for $99

It looks like T-Mobile has settled on a date to launch the Motorola Cliq XT: March 17th. Which is this week! If you can pause your St. Patrick Day’s celebration for a bit on the 17th, you should be able to mosey your way down to any T-Mobile retail store to find the Motoblur running, Android powered full touchscreen device that is the Cliq XT. It’ll only retail for $99 with new 2-year contract (or $199 with 1-year contract) which is a grand deal for a brand new smartphone. Anyone getting one?

Sell a T-Mobile Cliq XT in 60 seconds

The T-Mobile Cliq XT sales pamphlet has been spotted in the wild and though it’s not as exciting as seeing the actual device in the wild, there’s always little quirks you can find in these pamphlets. Case in point: T-Mobile details how you can sell the Cliq XT in 60 seconds, telling sales reps to cite that it’s the thinnest Android phone on T-Mobile, has access to Android Market, Flash lite, 5-megapixel camera and of course, Motoblur. Oddly enough, T-Mobile didn’t give an answer to why the Cliq XT still comes with Android 1.5 in that 60 second sales pitch. Just saying..

Motoblur invades Canada on the Dext, Quench and Backflip

Motorola

If you’re in Canada and have had a serious hankering for Motoblur (and it’s OK to admit it if you have), fret not, as a trio of Motorola phones are bringing some serious social networking integration your way.

First there’s the Quench, which we know here in the States as Cliq XT (or previously the Zeppelin). Then there’s the Dext, which is the version of the Quench with a horizontal sliding keyboard that we know simply as the Cliq. And then there’s the Backflip, with its crazy fold-under (or is it over?) keyboard and rear-facing trackpad.

It’s all coming your way in the next three months or so. Stay tuned. [Motorola]

Motorola Cliq XT all but confirmed for March 10 on T-Mobile

Motorola Cliq XT launch date

Looks like the rumored Motorola Cliq XT launch date of March 10 is pretty much firmed up. So if you’re in the market for some keyboardless MotoBLUR, you only have a week to wait. In the meantime, you can relive our hands-on with it at Mobile World Congress. [via BGR]

Motorola Cliq XT priced at $129.99 on contract with T-Mobile ($329.99 outright)

T-Mobile pricing

We brought you the first pictures of the official Android-MotoBLUR powered T-Mobile-branded Cliq XT, and now we have pricing information to go along with it. Looks like the Cliq XT will be going for $129.99 on contract (that’s the U.S.-standard 2-year deal plus whatever rebates may be thrown in), and a very respectable $329.99 off-contract.

Now all we need is the dates the Cliq XT is going to be released. But it can’t be far off. [via TMoNews]
