HP’s Pre 3 goes up for pre-order in Germany, shipping in ’1 bis 2 Wochen’

Remember the Pre 3? The portrait slider HP promised it’d be hawking to webOS fans by the end of summer? Well it might barely make its launch window, but only if you live in the land of the autobahn. Currently live on the Deutsches wing of HP’s online store is a pre-order page for the elusive smartphone which’ll apparently ship in “one to two weeks.” The localized variant is unlocked and comes with a QWERTZ (yes, Z) keyboard instead of the QWERTY we’re used to. And, at 349€ (or around $500), the handset is considerably cheaper than when when we first spied it on Amazon.de in May. Taking the plunge? Feel free to send one our way, preferably with bratwurst and rösti in tow, danke.

[Thanks, Andreas]

Dell Venue Pro arrives in the UK at long last: £459 off contract, shipping in 10 days (update: Germany also)

Time for a quick memory check: remember the WP7 slider that Dell announced some months ago? That’s right, it’s the Venue Pro — the one that’s been struggling to meet demand in the US due to some mysterious reworking. Well, here’s some good news for the folks on the other side of the pond: starting today, Dell’s UK store is taking orders for this unlocked slider for a hefty £459 ($745), and the first deliveries are expected to arrive in 10 days. Man, these wicked people from Round Rock sure love making us wait, but better late than never, right?

Update: We’ve been informed by our friends over at BestBoyZ that Germany’s also getting the Venue Pro today for around €534.

Better pictures of the Motorola XT300 slider emerge [video]

 Motorola slider

When we first saw the Motorola portrait slider in all its blurrycam glory, we were interested. It’s high time a portrait slider rolls out for Android, and the red Droid eye means it’s pretty much a given that this one will hit Verizon eventually.  To make things even more interesting, if the XT300 name is correct, it would indicate that there’s a GSM version of this one out there as well.  Or the name could be wrong.  Or Motorola  no longer uses the XT name only for GSM phones.  That’s how things go when you deal with rumors and make your best guess from pictures.

A few things we can tell for sure from the pictures and video though — this one comes with no flash for the camera, has an excellent looking keyboard, a rear mounted trackpad, and some form of Blur, at least for the launcher.  We’ll keep an eye out, as the form factor looks like something worth trying.  Be sure to hit the source link for a mess of pictures and video, and we have one of the vid’s after the break.  [MobiFlip (German) via Engadget]

Blurrycam pics emerge of a Motorola portrait slider on Verizon

Well, what do we have here? It seems like Motorola wants to keep pushing hard on the mid-range Android market with this portrait slider, which looks like it will get Verizon’s "Droid" branding (or at least the red eye). This could point to some serious hardware, as Verizon has only given it’s high-end Android devices the Droid name, while leaving the mid-range phones to fend for themselves (see: Moto Devour, LG Ally).

The device remains unnamed and unannounced, and has a form factor similar to the Palm Pre. It also looks like it will come with a full QWERTY keyboard, which should provide physical keyboard fans with an alternative to the Droid 2 or Sprint’s Epic 4G. It would be no surprise if Moto was gunning for Verizon’s legions of BlackBerry users who might be looking for a change from their Bold or Curve.

Check a short and very blurry walkthrough of the device after the break. [via Android and Me]
