Galaxy Nexus coming to Bell and Virgin Mobile Canada December 8th, pre-orders begin today

Time to start whoopin’ and hollerin’, Canada — not only do you have a date with the Galaxy Nexus on December 8th, you can begin pre-ordering it on Bell and Virgin Mobile today. Getting your phone ordered early ensures that you can have the $160 handset (after a three-year commitment, of course) shipped out “as soon as it’s available,” but it doesn’t necessarily guarantee your brand new treasure will show up on launch day. Bell’s got a promo going on that we don’t recall having seen before: a Twitter line-up. The idea is to sign up on the site on December 1st between 10am and 11am (EST), claim a spot in the virtual line and you’ll be given a message to send on Twitter. Then, return to the site once an hour until 10pm and tweet out the latest message. If you remain in the top 100 when all is said and done, your Galaxy Nexus will be guaranteed to arrive on the 8th. ‘Course, given the amount of interest circulating around the phone, it’s probably best if you’re on the site ready to get your Tweet at 9:59am. Check out the press release for the deets.

Nokia publishes Lumia 800 ‘making-of’ documentary (video)

You’ve already heard Nokia’s Peter Skillman talk design regarding the N9, and now it’s Nokia’s turn to show you what kind of magical mayhem went into the the making of the Lumia 800. It’s an eight-minute long clip discussing the decisions behind the company’s “first Windows Phone,” with Nokia calling it “as much a story about collaboration and taking risks as it is about design.” Taking risks, indeed. It’s a good watch regardless of your platform affiliation, and it can be found just after the break.

HP wants to give you some free apps to go with that new TouchPad

Not that it particularly needed it, but HP is sweetening the deal for owners of its now defunct TouchPad, offering up six webOS apps for the price of free. The pack includes apps normally ranging in price from $0.99 to $14.99, featuring the multitasking Glimpse, monster-building Big Boss, Camera for TouchPad, and Audubon Birds, a field guide that’s decidedly less slingshot-based that other bird apps. The deal expires on the 31st — all of the promo info can be found in the source link below. The company is set to offer up another app six-pack in September.

Update: We’re hearing in comments that the codes are no longer working. Thankfully, HP has promised more free dealies in the near future.

Huawei MediaPad debuts in weird, confusing video ad

There’s a fine balance to be struck when you want to drum up interest in a device but not release too much information before its official launch. Huawei did that very nicely with its first MediaPad teaser image last week, showing us only the tablet lounging casually atop the desk of a surely sophisticated businessman. Today we’ve come across a followup video that also lets us peek the pad’s rear — which looks just about identical to the one on the company’s Ideos S7 Pro — but also confuses the hell out of us with its, erm, narrative. You’ll have to just jump beyond the break and be befuddled with us. The MediaPad should get its proper launch in just under a week, on June 20th, though Huawei’s Facebook page already shows an Android Honeycomb screenshot on it and our rough estimation from the video places the screen size at 7 inches. Not that we ever get to see it, cursed uninformative teasers!
