Bootloader on the Droid X = Locked!

droidx_bootloader

There has been some chatter lingering around in regards to the Droid X and its bootloader, and sadly it appears as though they have locked this one down. So, what does that mean for the average consumer, well nothing really. Those who will be affected by this information are those interested in the extra tweaks, along with the ability to create and flash custom ROM’s. Root access should still be obtainable so you will be able to use all those fun applications that require it, which is a big plus to many. Hopefully the Droid X isn’t as hard to crack as the Motorola Milestone — for which they are still trying to figure out a good solution. Now all you Droid owners who were looking for an upgrade, still interested? [via Droid Life]

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 gets rooted

Xperia X10 root

No carriers’ locked systems are safe when Android hackers set their sights on them.  Some are easy, some are tough, but eventually they all fall.  This time in the spotlight is the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10.  With the unknowns surrounding the fate of Froyo on the X10, and the less than speedy track record of SE, this one is extra special for everyone who loves the feel and looks of the X10′s hardware but isn’t quite satisfied with the software.  The other three people don’t have to root :)

No method or files yet, just the news that it happened along with the obligatory photo proof.  We’ll keep an eye out, and you guys do the same.  When details surface you’ll be able to read it here.  [xda-developers via Twitter]

Dell Streak rooted — now we just need them here

dell streak rooted

That was quick!  Paul over at MoDaCo announced that he has rooted the Dell Streak (aka the Dell Mini 5).  Seems like these new devices are getting cracked as fast as manufacturers can push them out.  Not a lot of details yet, but you can bet this is another thing we’re all keeping our eye on.  Thanks for the hard work Paul, now go have that beverage at your BBQ — you deserve it.  [MoDaCo]

Root Your Telus Milestone

milestone

It’s finally time for all you Telus Milestone owners to finally have root access on your device! Over at AllDroid they have compiled instructions based from the knowledge and information of many different developers and hackers within the Android community. While the rooting for this device, which includes having to flash to a Brazilian .sbf file, is a bit more intricate then many of the other devices at least it is a start. It doesn’t appear the kernel is yet available, but beggars can’t be choosers, can they?

Keep in mind, this is a risky process, and should be done at your own peril (or at least at your phone’s peril). If you have questions, or need help with this process, jump into the forums. [AllDroid via Boy Genius Report]
