The update will bring three improvements:
- Fixes the airplane mode issues
- Fixes the Skyfire browser power cycle issue
- Adds a Select All option to Bulk Bluetooth contact push
So be on the lookout for the OTA, Moment users. Here is the newest version you should have once the update is complete: S:M900.8.OS.DI06. [Sprint] Thanks, Kyle!

New Sprint Football Live free for all Sprint data subscribers
Sprint has again updated its Sprint Football Live application, and it wants to remind everyone that the services are free to every Sprint data subscriber. Back in April, Verizon wrangled the official NFL blessing away from Sprint, and many thought that would be the end of football on Sprint, but they have been working and improving their Football Live app and it seems to offer some unique content
- Live telecasts of NCAA games via ESPN TV
- Game center for every NFL and collegiate game
- Scores and schedule for all NFL teams, and 120 college teams
- Exclusive content like player blogs, and team videos
With football season about to kick in, Sprint subscribers ought to check things out at the official Sprint Football Live page. I will be, as I’m a huge NCAA football nut. GO EERS! Check out the full press release after the jump. [Sprint]

Sprint Hero, Moment won’t get Froyo
We imagine there are quite a few pitchforks being raised right about now. Sprint dropped the bad news on Twitter that while the new Evo 4G will be getting Android 2.2 (which was already announced anyway), the Samsung Moment and HTC Hero will not. Sorry, folks. That’s just the way it is. But the good news is you can head over to your favorite forums — ahem — and get instructions for rooting and ROMing for the Hero and the Moment. [Twitter] Thanks to everyone who sent this in.

Android 2.1 update is officially live for the Sprint Samsung Moment
We pretty much spilled all the beans yesterday, but the Samsung Moment’s Android 2.1 update is officially official today, right now, as in currently, and you can go get it here and be rid of that old OS you see above. And when you’re done with that, head into the forums to get all the ins and outs on your renewed device. Thanks to everyone who sent this in.
Moment Android 2.1 DE03 Release Notes
Above, you’ll see the official release notes from Sprint about the Android 2.1 update for the Samsung Moment. The update’s supposed to be official tomorrow (though it briefly leaked out this afternoon). The document shows all the updates and improvements that Android 2.1 will be providing the Moment which are definitely welcomed with a smile – especially those pesky Bluetooth problems. As with most big updates, this will wipe all the data off your device, so make sure you back up as much as you can onto your SD card before making the leap. One other shot from the notes is after the break. Thanks, O!
Android 2.1 for the Samsung Moment leaks out a day early (updated)
Well, folks, it’s official. Sort of. Android 2.1 for the Samsung Moment has been released as DE03. This new release was not supposed to roll out until tomorrow (the 14th), however, it seems someone down at Sprint goofed and posted it early. A couple of the bugs that were in the Moment 2.1 leaks have been squashed, and it seems to be running great so far. The DE03 .tar file is hidden in the new Sprint update utility, so if you have a prior version of SW Update, you will need to uninstall that before installing this one to avoid any driver confusion.
Since an official announcement hasn’t been made, it’s hard to say exactly what has been changed, but here’s what I’ve gathered so far:
- No Live Wallpapers
- GPS strength seems improved
- Signal strength seems improved
- Voice search bug is fixed
Go here to download the file, and also be sure to take a look at the installation instructions.
More to come as we get it!
Update: Whoopsie, the links (Sprint’s and the Rapidshare mirror) have been pulled. We’ve been told the update will "officially" be out tomorrow — just because it was briefly on Sprint’s server and available doesn’t mean Sprint has "released" it — and we’re told the following are included in the update:
- Keypad backlight optimization
- Bulk Bluetooth contact push
- Various Bluetooth fixes
- Increased speed and performance
- Swipe to Unlock/Mute/Speakerphone
- New camera features
- Pandora enhancements
Look for the update here.
Sprint responds to Hero and Moment 2.1 update questions…again
Sprint has left new official word about the 2.1 eclair update for the still popular (but last generation) Samsung Moment and HTC Hero handsets. It’s not likely to make anyone happy, but it’s exactly what we figured it would be.
Before we gather the pitchforks and torches and storm Kansas City, we need to try to remember that 1H 2010 (carrier speak for sometime before June 30) has been their official word all along. Yeah, that doesn’t make me any happier either, but what else can you do? [via Engadget] Thanks lastdetailwd for the tip!
Samsung M910 passes the FCC – is it the Moment 2?
For all you Samsung enthusiasts, this is something that might spark your attention: The FCC has approved the M910, which may well be the Samsung Moment 2, and there’s a good chance that it will be showing off at your local Sprint store sooner than later.
Since this phone is technically still a prototype, most of the specifications are still under wraps. However, word is that it will sport Android 2.1 with the Touchwiz 3.0 interface running on top (same as what’s on the Samsung Galaxy S), and of course, the full QWERTY keyboard. We don’t know exactly what kind of display the M910 has, but let’s hope we see some Super AMOLED love with its (reportedly) more outdoors-friendly screen.
