Droid X case review: Seidio Spring-Clip Holster

Droid X Seidio Spring Clip holster

Carrying around the Motorola Droid X in a holster is no small matter. Literally. The phone has a 4.3-inch screen. But the Seidio Spring-Clip Holster makes short work of it.

The holster itself is really simple. You slide the phone face-first into the holster from the bottom, then affix the clip at the top. The holster itself is made of a soft-touch plastic, and the inside is covered in felt to protect the screen. The holster actually doesn’t add much bulk to the phone. You’ll certainly know you’re carrying it around, but it’s not overly bulky.

Releasing the phone is as simple as lifting up on the spring clip. The clip doesn’t lock into place, so you’ll want to be a tad bit careful about accidentally knocking it against something. But at the same time, we’re not worried about the spring giving way during normal everyday use.

There’s a belt clip on the back of the holster. Its spring is pretty tight, too, so no worries about it falling off your hip. The belt clip can be rotated, too, for a custom fit. It’s not removable (hey, it’s a holster), but neither does it stick too far off your body.

We’ve got more pics after the break. The Seidio Spring-Clip Holster for the Motorola Droid X is available in the Android Central Store for $24.95.

Accessory review: Seidio Innocell 3500mAh Extended Life Battery for HTC Evo 4G

Seidio Innocell 3500 mAh extended life battery for HTC Evo 4G review.

The stock battery on the HTC EVO 4G leaves much to be desired, and many of us with an EVO 4G can’t go a whole day on one charge.  The Seidio Innocell 3500mAh extended life battery just might be the solution.  Checking in at a massive 3500mAh (more than double the capacity of the stock battery), this extended life battery by Seidio met and exceeded my expectations right from the get-go, which is good, as it’s priced at $64.95.

You’ll never read a review about the HTC EVO 4G that doesn’t mention its battery life.  It’s a lot of phone, and it needs a lot of power.  I’ve been using this battery exclusively since I got it last week, and to say I’m impressed with its performance is an understatement.  Right from day one, I couldn’t believe how well it was holding up.  I really want to break it down for you, so join me after the break for some pictures, additional thoughts, and most importantly — benchmark results.

Droid Incredible Case Review: Seidio Innocase Rugged holster combo

 Seidio Innocase Rugged holster combo

The Seidio Innocase Rugged holster combo is a case for the Droid Incredible that would be more accurately described as a tank than as a case. The case itself has three separate layers: the Seidio Innocase II case goes around your phone first and is then itself encapsulated inside a thick rubber lining and a rigid plastic skeleton shell. This by itself would be a case worthy of respect, but Seidio has gone even farther by including a set of screen protectors and a holster to keep the entire thing strapped to your belt or waist.

The great thing about this case is that it can really be used as three separate cases. The Seidio Innocase II is a great thin case in its own right, and there is nothing preventing you from simply using it as your daily in-pocket case to keep the phone from getting scratches. Adding the rubber and stiff plastic layers creates a much more durable case, which would offer much better protection from drops. Using the holster makes sure your phone is within easy access on your hip and would be great for someone who needs quick and constant access to their phone. The screen in turned inward when held in the holster by a slide-locking clip, so you have no worries about your phone falling off the holster. Considering the versatility, this is a great buy for someone who may want a super rugged and durable case but is not sure they would want to carry their phone in it at all times.

Our very own Jerry Hildenbrand reviewed this very case for the Evo 4G and shot a great video showing you how to assemble this monster step-by-step. Check out his review for the video and check out more pictures of the Droid Incredible version past the break. The Seidio Innocase Rugged holster combo for the Verizon Droid Incredible will run you $49.99 in the Android Central Store.

Samsung Captivate case review: Seidio Innocase II Surface

 Sedio Case for Captivate

The Seidio Innocase II Surface for the Samsung Captivate is a solid case that will keep your phone light while protecting it from scratches.

It comes with two pieces that fit together. At first, I was skeptical at this approach as I felt it would easily fall apart, making it nearly unusable. But I have never had it come apart thus far, and it’s still easy to remove it in order to reach the battery, microSD or SIM card slot.

One of the best aspects of the Galaxy S hardware in my opinion is how lightweight all of the devices are. This case does its best not to add much bulk to the phone and it does a good job (it’s only 1mm thin). The interior of the case boasts a felt lining that will work to protect the Captivate from wear and tear of the product.

To put it on your device, separate it into two pieces. Then slide them onto the phone with the bottom part fitting just underneath the top. Pick it up to ensure that it fits snuggly and you’re good to go.

If you’ve been looking for a good case for the Captivate that doesn’t add bulk, consider the Seidio Innocase II Surface, available from the Android Central store for $29.95. Find more pictures after the break.

Evo 4G case review: Seidio Innocase Rugged holster combo [video]

Seidio Innocase Rugged

When Chuck Norris chooses an Evo 4G case, this is probably the one he uses.  The Seidio Innocase Rugged holster combo is some serious battle armor for your Evo.  It’s a four-part system, consisting of the Seidio Innocase II Surface for the interior shell, a rugged rubber skin and skeleton protective outer shell, an authentic Seidio Ultimate Screen Guard screen protector, and a locking holster to keep it where you want it to be.

When completely assembled, not a bit of your Evo 4G is exposed.  Even the ports and controls are covered by the rubber skin, yet easy to open flaps give quick access to ports and the case is designed so that all the buttons and controls work without removing the rubber.  Of course, with everything covered up tight you won’t have access to the kickstand, but if you are out and about in a place where you need this level of protection — on the job, doing outdoor activities, or chasing down aliens, it’s a fair trade.

When you don’t need the extreme protection the Innocase Rugged offers, the rubber skin and skeleton is easily removed, leaving the Innocase Surface to keep your Evo safe from minor bumps and scratches.  You can grab the Seidio Innocase Rugged holster combo in the Android Central store for $39.95.  Hit the break to see a slew of pictures, and a quick video showing how the kit is assembled.

Droid Incredible Case Review: Seidio Innocase II Surface case

Seidio Innocase II Surface case

The HTC Droid Incredible is one of the most popular Droid devices around — period. With its super fast processor and beautiful 3.7-inch display, you’ll find yourself wanting to show this phone off to everyone around you. In doing so, you probably want to pick up the Seidio Innocase II Surface case. This case highlights the design of the phone, all while providing one of the sturdiest Droid Incredible cases around.

The case feels much like the backing of the Incredible’s battery door. With its soft-touch feel, the case still keeps a solid and rather sturdy form. The backing also follows and highlights the contours and curvatures that this Droid is known for. As for the extremities, such as the camera and power button — each is exposed, but protected. As for the inside of the case, you’ll find felt pieces on both halves of the case (see pictures after the break). This provides a nice touch to keeping the phone snug, while not scratching up the backing of the phone.

Once on, the case literally hugs the phone all around. As the two halves connect around the phone, a very small raised tab on the bottom half, locks the the two pieces together. To unlock, simply push down where the tab lies, and pull the top half away.

The Seidio Innocase II Surface case for the Droid Incredible carries a long name — but delivers as one of the best hard shell cases around and is available from the Android Central Store for $29.95. More photos after the break.

Droid Incredible Extended Battery Review: Seidio Innocell 1750mAh

Seidio Innocell 1750mAh Extended Battery

Being a heavy Droid Incredible user, I grew sick of the ever-dying stock 1300mAh battery from HTC. Some days, while using the stock battery, I would barely make it through lunchtime. Nothing is worse than trying to get through the day and to have that low life battery icon pop up. If you’re looking for a battery to get you through the day, and don’t want to sacrifice the slim design by buying the bulkier extended batteries — this Seidio Innocell 1750mAh Extended Battery is for you.

Right away, the only difference you will notice in the design of the battery, is the black finish, and the 1750mAh branding. Otherwise, it’s exactly the same size as the stock 1300mAh from HTC. Even though this battery carries a longer battery life, there is no difference in weight or thickness. There is absolutely no need for a new battery door or case — this battery fits within HTC’s original design. My only complaint in terms of aesthetics, is Seidio’s choice of color. I wish they kept in line with HTC’s firetruck red. But then again, when are you walking around with the battery exposed?

Jumping into the numbers — the real meat of this review — the 1750mAh battery will last the whole day through. On a daily basis, I was able to get a full 12 hours in before I found myself reaching for my power cable. In contrast, the stock 1300mAh battery would only last about five hours on moderate use.

For somebody like myself, who always is 3G connected, and has constant running sync services for Gmail, Twitter, and Facebook — this battery is for you. Having the longer battery life, without having to choose a bulkier extended battery, is an option most welcomed. Head on over into the Android Central Store, and scoop the Seidio Innocell 1750mAh Extended Battery for $49.95. More photos after the break.

Seidio Innodock Jr Desktop Cradle for Sprint HTC Evo 4G

The Seidio Innodock Jr. Desktop Cradle for Sprint HTC Evo 4G was one of the first desktop cradles to come out for the Sprint Evo 4G, and as such it holds a special place in the section of my heart reserved for gadget accessories. So, after the break, let us take a deeper look at it, shall we?

Review: Seidio Spring-Clip Holster for the Evo 4G

Seidio Spring-Clip holster for the Evo 4G

The Seidio Spring-Clip holster for the Evo 4G is a secure and protective way to carry your phone.  Your Evo fits snugly, face in for maximum screen protection, but the top spring clip allows for easy release.  The holster is designed so that all the ports and controls are still accessible even if the phone is locked in place.

On the rear of the holster is a second spring clip, perfect for wearing on your belt, or for hanging on the sun visor of your car.  This clip swivels 360 degrees, allowing for a comfortable fit and access to the volume rocker, headphone jack and USB/HDMI ports without removing the phone from the case.  Inserting your Evo into the holster is a piece of cake — slip the bottom (face in!) into the molded shell, open the top spring clip, slide the phone in place and release the clip.  And once it’s in place, the only way it’s coming back out is if the clip is opened.  You can count on it staying put until you want to remove it.

To me, the only drawback to this sort of carry is that the screen isn’t visible.  But that’s also a big plus — your Evo’s screen isn’t going to get scratched or damaged and bump dialing simply can’t happen.  I’m stubborn and set in my ways like an old mule, but after receiving the review unit I’m impressed.  If I don’t want or need to use Google Maps navigation, the Spring-Clip holster on my visor paired with our cars bluetooth beats the heck out of laying my precious on the dash or in the console.  The Seidio Spring-Clip holster is available at the Android Central Store for $29.95.  There’s a video showing how easy it is to use, and some more images after the break.
