MOPS Shadow T800 brings analog joystick, hearts & spades to Android

Sure, the Xperia Play may have that slick gamepad slider, shoulder buttons, and Sony Playstation’s official blessing, but can it hold its own against the Shadow’s analog pad? Probably, because despite the new contender’s self described status of a “mobile Playstation,” its lack of shoulder buttons won’t help it play any of those Xperia-exclusive PSone games it can’t download. Still, besides being known as the “Phantom of the Opera” phone (thanks, Google Translate), this MOPS Shadow T800 has a lot going for it. This analog Android packs a Froyo-powered 806MHz processor, 512MB of RAM, front and rear 5 megapixel and 0.3 megapixel cameras, respectively, a 3.5 inch 320 x 480 touchscreen, and a whole mess of standard GPS, Bluetooth, and 3G radios. Not enough? Okay, fine; the device also comes pre-loaded with a handful of emulators, as well as a legit copy of Assassin’s Creed. Besides, who doesn’t want a phone with card-suit face buttons? Bragging rights will set you back 2680 yuan ($410), assuming you’re in China when this thing launches later this month.

The Motorola Droid Shadow likes to work out, have its picture taken

Motorola Droid Shadow

Yep, there it is. The Motorola Droid Shadow, same as we just saw in some promo material. This one was found and napped in a corporate Verizon gym in Washington, then sent on to Gizmodo. It reportedly contained a text message confirming it is "unreleased" and then was remotely wiped.

That’s a 4.3-inch screen you see there (same as on the Evo 4G — and like the Evo, it likely isn’t AMOLED or anything, that we’re OK with that). It also is said to have an 8MP camera and will shot 720p video (again, like the Evo), 16GB of internal storage, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and HDMI out (again, like the Evo). And have we mentioned this thing pretty much is spec’d out exactly like the Evo 4G?

Anyhoo, if anybody else has an unreleased phone they want to leave lying around, we’ll be at the Abeline Sizzler about 7:30 tonight for their "Show Mama a Good Night Out" promotion. [Gizmodo]

Motorola Shadow gets its WiFi certification

Whoa!  The WiFi Alliance certified the (likely Android) Motorola MB810 today for IEEE Standard 802.11 b/g/n.  Yes, that’s the Shadow, and I know a lot of us have been waiting for more info about this screamer.  Still no concrete details or specs, but in case you forgot here’s what we think we know:-

  • Full Qwerty landscape slider
  • 4.3-inch capacitive screen
  • 1080p playback
  • Android 2.2
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • 8MP autofocus camera
  • microSD slot
  • AT&T 3G GSM radio

If you’re an AT&T subscriber, start gathering up the change from your ashtray and from deep down in the couch.  This is one you don’t wanna miss out on. [via Phonedog]

Rumored Moto Shadow/Mirage sports 4.3-inch touchscreen, 1080p playback

Motorola Shadow/Mirage

Another Android phone from Motorola? And this one better than the last? Why not? The render you see above reportedly is codenamed either the Mirage or Shadow and has a 4.3-inch (as in the same size as the HTC HD2 and larger than the Motorola Droid), 800×484 touchscreen. Also said to be on board are an HDMI port, 8MP camera, 1080p video — and it’s all crammed inot a body that’s just 9mm thick.

Of course, specs like that mean nothing until we actually see a device, but that’s more than enough to whet our appetites for a while.
