We’ve just gotten word from our trusty T-Mobile inside about some deals related to Black Friday and the holiday season. Firstly, they’re offering discounts on down payments for off-contract device purchases.

The Samsung Exhibit II 4G the MyTouch by LG (excluding the Q) and the Samsung Gravity Smart all have no down payments so you can walk out of the store with the device without having to pay anything up front.

The LG DoublePlay can be had for just a $50 down payment and the Galaxy S II only needs a $200 down payment. In order to be eligible for any of these deals you must get either the Unlimited Value Text and Talk with 2GB or higher plan or the Unlimited Small Business Text and Talk with 2GB or higher plan.

Also going on is an extension on buy 2, get 1 free accessories – you have until New Year’s Eve to take advantage! While these may not be huge deals compared to other carriers’, they’re deals nonetheless. Be sure to keep an eye out for them at your local T-Mobile stores. [Thanks _______!]

Mr. & Mrs. Lenovo packed young ThinkPad Tablet on its big trip to Washington, smiling all the while. When it arrived, it was dragged into the FCC’s underground bunker and subjected to horrifying experiments by our boys in blue lab coats. Turns out they were looking to see what kind of gear it was packing. They stumbled upon a Qualcomm Gobi 3000, which will happily connect to AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile’s 3G internet (nothing faster, though). To show there were no hard feelings, the FCC approved the Tablet and handed it a carton of juice before sending it on its way.

It’s something not many of us think about — what about all the smartphone users in the world who are blind or suffer from low vision? Wouldn’t it be nice if they had a mobile OS that was accessible to them?

Well, Google’s got you covered in Android 4.0 with its new accessibility feature. We’ve seen AT&T introduce an app suite very similar to this a few months back and this works in almost the same way. Simply slide your fingers across the screen and the electronic lady will speak out whatever happens to be under your finger like apps or menu items. Having this built in to a mobile OS that’s available for any and all devices is nothing short of revolutionary. Seems we’re finding new things to love about Ice Cream Sandwich every day.

A new Samsung ad spot surfaced today, taking a few jabs at those dedicated iPhone users who are blinded by their devotion to all things Apple. While it doesn’t come officially from Samsung Mobile’s YouTube channel, one ‘Tuber did manage to upload the vid (most likely ripped from a DVR) for all the Android fanboys to laugh along with.

In the video you have the typical long line of people anxiously waiting for the new iPhone 4S. While getting antsy, they spot someone with a Galaxy S II and after comparing it with their iPhone 4, they’re left wondering why their smartphone isn’t as cool. I should point out that not one person leaves the line but they all are wowed by the Android device they never knew existed.

It’s all fun, lighthearted stuff and while I did enjoy the video myself, I’m not going to get all “fanboy” on you and insult anyone who decides on an iPhone over an Android device. It’s all a matter of preference. Remember, they’re only “iSheep” if they’re blindly following the brand (like the creative barrista in this video). Check out the video below and let me know what you think.

FCC chairman Julius Genachowski issued a draft order this morning that calls for a hearing to take the AT&T / T-Mobile merger before an Administrative Law Judge. Such a hearing, reminiscent of the one held for the attempted buyout of DirecTV by EchoStar in 2002, would be held once the Department of Justice’s litigation is complete and would certainly be another blockade for AT&T to push through. According to the FCC, the Chairman’s order is awaiting final approval from the Commission at a later date, and won’t be made public until that time. If the order gets the green light and a hearing is held, it’ll be done so like a trial — one involving cross examination, witnesses, rules of evidence and a good ‘ol fashioned two-sided duel.

It’s no secret that the FCC has raised concerns over the proposed merger, and pushing this order forward understandably reflects that. In fact, during a conference call with media, the FCC expressed fears that the deal would violate antitrust standards and isn’t in the public interest, and the Commission cited records showing it would ultimately result in a loss of jobs, contrary to AT&T’s claims. Naturally, this means there’s one more hoop for the carrier to go through before it can hope to pick up T-Mobile, and it’s a biggie; with the FCC and DoJ holding steadfastly against the acquisition, the GSM carrier’s chances of success appear to be slimming significantly. Head past the break to see AT&T and Sprint’s reactions to the news.
