MyTouch 4G media roundup [From the Forums]
A new device usually means a new leak of the ROM, which means new media to put on our devices! The new HTC Sense UI means most of the goodies don’t ship with the device, instead you download pre-built themes from HTC. Thankfully T-Mobile has provided us with three pre-installed theme bundles, and we sucked out anything and everything we could. Check the links below, and if you’re not getting the myTouch 4G, maybe your current phone can look like one.
- The full system dump from the leaked ROM is right here.
- You can grab all three new themes, all unpacked and ready to port right here.
- There’s four new high resolution wallpapers, grab ‘em here.
- And if you’re on the hunt for some chillaxin’ ringtones done the HTC way, grab a couple here.
Of course if you are planning on grabbing the MyTouch 4G as soon as you can get your hot little hands on it, join in the fun and chat about it in our MyTouch forums. [Android Central Forums]

Get the Android Central wallpaper; name our Android contest!

We have big things planned for Android Central and we want you to be a part of it. We kicked things off with the new logo you see up top. We also have our Android representing us, you, and, well, the whole platform. Go on and download the free Android wallpaper in the our Forums - available in both light and dark flavors (and find more Android wallpapers in our Wallpapers, Ringtones and Themes forums).
Back to our little friend up top. Little guy (or gal) needs a name and that’s where you come in. Head on over to this forum thread and post your suggestion for a name. We’ll read through them all and pick our favorite on Friday afternoon and give the winner the Android case of his or her choice from the Android Central Store.
So grab the wallpaper here and name our Android here (where the rules are too) and stay tuned for more awesome. (Comments off on this post – hie thee to the forums!)

AppBrain update allows sending of links, wallpapers to your phone
AppBrain has just updated its website and Android app to allow users to send text, URLs, and even wallpapers right to their phone from their browser of choice. Sending text or URLs copies it to your clipboard, so you just need to long-press somewhere to paste the text. As for wallpapers, you can enter in the URL location of the image or upload one yourself and it will be automatically sent to your phone and set as the background. The image I tested this on was quite large, but the process went so fast that it was already on my phone by the time my hand could go from my mouse to the wake button on my DInc. Impressive, to say the least.
These features should make a great replacement for Chrome to Phone for anyone not on Froyo, so go check it out now. Links to the app are after the break, and anyone with an account can goto their "My Apps" page to see the new features in the toolbar along the right side. [AppBrain]

Google developer advocate weighs in on Nazi themes, Market policing
By now we should all be pretty familiar with Google’s ability to police applications served through the Android Market. It might have been a little shocking the first time Google flexed its muscled and remotely wiped apps from phones. Since then, Google has pulled suspicious wallpaper apps (temporarily), the Easy Root application, and now (to no one’s great distress) Nazi themes.
Hitler and swastikas tend to bring a lot of attention wherever they appear; here they have stirred the debate over whether Google should take a page out of Apple’s book and review applications before they appear in the market. Tim Bray, Developer Advocate for Google, makes the argument in his personal blog that Google’s swift action to remove the apps once they drew attention demonstrates that the system works. "Anyone can publish anything, but there’s a smooth well-oiled process for ripping the weeds out of the garden, once they get noticed," says he.
What do you think? Head over to read his full post and tell us your opinion. [ongoing by Tim Bray via Androinica]

Get the Droid 2 eye live wallpaper now
OK, so it’s a little wrong to put the Droid 2 eye live wallpaper on a Nexus One. But it’s also very, very right. It’s a simple install, and you don’t have to be rooted to do it. You just need a phone that can handle live wallpapers. Hit up the source link for the download info. [XDA Developers]
Update: If you’re getting a parsing error, try getting the apk onto your phone through a different method. (I used Dropbox, or you can try the Sideload Wonder Machine)
