HTC Wildfire getting Froyo over the next couple months, Europe this week
Good news for you folks with the non-U.S. version of the HTC Wildfire: Your Froyo update is on the way. OK, so’s Christmas. But, really, it’s coming. HTC said so on its Facebook page this morning:
"We know many of you have been asking for information about an update for your Wildfire. Well, we have good news! Android 2.2 (aka Froyo) on Wildfire is scheduled to begin rolling out this week in Europe, reaching all areas of the world by February. Thanks for your patience as these updates roll out; we think you’ll enjoy the final product."
So what about the U.S. version? (That’s the Alltel model you see above.) We’d expect an update in that same timetable. Repeated for any U.S. carrier with the HTC Wildfire: We expect an update in the same timetable. Don’t make liars out of us. [Facebook]

Alltel HTC Wildfire mini review
When HTC recently announced that the mid-range Wildfire would be coming to the United States after its run in Europe, we didn’t know any of the regional carriers involved. Turns out that Alltel — what’s left of it anyway, was first out the gate with what’s been previously codenamed the HTC Bee.
Join us after the break for a mini review of the 3.2-inch HTC Widlfire, available now for $29.99 on two-year contract.

Google begins testing paid Market apps in India
Word comes from the world’s largest democracy that a select few users are beginning to finally see paid applications in the Android Market (the above picture is from an Indian HTC Wildfire). Google appears to be merely testing at this point, so there is no word on when all Android users across India will be able to spend their hard-eared cash for games, utilities, and the like. This should help app developers as a whole, massive new market is going to be thirsty for quality apps as well as incentivise Indian devs to develop for the Android platform.
It is easy to forget that paid apps in the Android Market aren’t yet in every nation where Android phones are sold. In fact, outside of the United States and western Europe, Japan is the only other nation where users can buy paid apps officially. It is good to see Google working to add more nations to this list, but for those still waiting, we are sure paid app support can not come soon enough. [androidos.in] Thanks to chandan for the tip!
Update: Add South Korea to the list of paid apps.

A white HTC Desire and silver HTC Wildfire pose for pictures, headed to the UK
Two of HTC’s phones, the Desire and the Wildfire, are getting a makeover; both have been spotted sporting different colors from their original design. The Desire can be seen showing off its new white look while the Wildfire goes silver.
These are reported to be special editions, only available in the United Kingdom. In fact, Carphone Warehouse will be the only store carrying these versions.
They look pretty slick and just provide more choice in the market for consumers who are tired of the standard colors. [Android Community]

Unrevoked 3.2 available, now works with Froyo [update: It's been pulled]
The unrevoked team has announced that version 3.2 is now available for download, and support for Froyo has been added. This brings the list of devices supported by the flashing tool to:
- Sprint EVO 4G (HTC Supersonic)
- Droid Incredible (HTC Incredible)
- HTC Desire GSM
- HTC Desire CDMA (HTC BravoC)
- HTC Aria
- Droid Eris (HTC DesireC)
- HTC Wildfire (HTC Buzz)
In addition, users of the Sprint Evo 4G, Droid Incredible, and the CDMA Desire (US Cellular version) can now unlock their NAND and root using the tool. People using other modern HTC devices not listed above are encouraged to contact the unrevoked team. Be sure to read the directions carefully, and happy hacking! [unrevoked] Thanks Mike for the tip!
Update: The unlock tool has been temporarily pulled. Says the Unrevoked team: "We’re seeing some strange problems with Unrevoked 3.2, so we’ve pulled the release for a bit. Please hold on! Don’t worry if you’ve already run 3.2 – you are rooted and everything is OK. It’s just a problem for users while running it."

HTC releases kernel sources for Aria, Evo, Incredible, Wildfire
Late last night HTC released a torrent of code — kernel sources for the Aria, the Evo 4G update, the Incredible update, and the Wildfire; plus the FRF91 system image for the Nexus One (Happy dance). Even though they are obliged to release the kernel source code by the GPL, I don’t think anyone expected them this early. Developers should start cranking things into gear shortly, and have something tasty cooked up for us soon. [HTC Developer Center]

HTC brings ‘Media Sync’ to the Wildfire, more devices soon
HTC has added the ability to sync media with the HTC Wildfire using the latest version of HTC Sync (3.0). As of right now, the feature is Windows-only, and compatibility with all media players is not known. Here is a quote from the announcement:
‘Now packed with new features, this version features a media sync that is compatible with popular media players available on your PC’
"Popular media players" is a vague term, so we’re not sure if iTunes is included in that bunch.
If you have an HTC Wildfire and want to start syncing media easily, download the latest version of HTC Sync here. Install it, plug it in with a USB cable and you should be good to go!
While the Wildfire is the first phone to be anointed with media sync, HTC said that other phones would get this feature "very soon." [via Android Community]
