O2′s version of the Samsung Galaxy S getting Froyo on Nov. 15
Hey, you, the guy on O2, with the SE X10 and a Galaxy S, too. Some updates are headed your way. The above screen grab is a bit cryptic, but here’s the deal: European carrier O2′s Sony Ericsson X10 line — that’d be the X10, X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro — will be getting its Android 2.1 (Eclair) update starting Nov. 15. And that same day, O2′s Galaxy S devices will be getting Android 2.2 — Froyo.
That’s all subject to change, of course, and it likely will roll out in stages — you know these updates go. But some update is better than no update, right? Thanks, anon!

Sony Ericsson gives update on status of X10 series updates (hint: delayed)
![]()
Many X10 users have been anxiously awaiting the OS update for their device so that they can finally be on Android 2.1. We have seen this update pushed back many times, then confirmed to still be on track, and with a recent update from Sony Ericsson we come to find out it has been delayed again. The new timeline is said to have an October rollout, instead of September (funny, since the month is almost over) but they firmly believe that the extra time will be worth the wait in the quality of the build. While it seems to be the same song and dance coming from them everytime an update is near, we hope this date holds true for all you X10 users. For more information about this update and to see exactly what it will bring to your device, check out this link. [via Sony Ericsson Blog]

X-10 Mini, Mini Pro now in color — outside looks better than inside
Sony Ericsson has announced earlier this month that the X10 Mini, and the X10 Mini Pro will soon be available in new colors. The Mini, (right) will be available with a gold shell, while the Mini Pro (left) will feature a pink sliding case. I’ll tell anyone within earshot that I’m not 100 percent sure I like the trend to giant phones, and these sure do look nice. Too bad they only updated the case colors — both the Mini and Mini Pro still run Android 1.6.
For what it’s worth, the new colors should be available next month, and an update to Android 2.1 sometime before hell freezes over in Q4 of this year. SE — we love your phones. They feel great, and have excellent call quality. Please realize that we Android fans need the OS updates more than we need food, and make phones that look this hot run a current version of the software! [SEMC blog]

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini gets an official tear-down
Interested in seeing the parts of the the new Sony Xperia X10 Mini? Actually, this is actually the E10i model, which is the European version, but it has basically the same guts as its American cousin, the E10a. Clear? We Android lovers are tinkerers at heart, so we never pass up a chance for a good old fashioned tear-down.
According to iFixit, they had no problems taking this little guy apart, and told us that replacing components within the phone should be pretty easy as well. During the operation, a couple of semi-interesting things came to their attention: The 3.7V 950 mAh Li-Polymer battery’s capacity is 22 percent less than the iPhone 3GS’s, but both phones deliver the same 53mAh’s per gram (another point for Android efficiency, we suppose). Also, the digitizer (the touch screen sensor) has the exact same model number as the one in Microsoft’s Kin Two, which could come in handy if you would ever need to replace the screen. The Xperia X10 Mini gets unboxed and reminds us how small it is
Surprise! The Xperia X10 Mini is really small. How small? Take a look at that unboxing video above, the accessories of the X10 Mini is bigger than the X10 Mini itself! Even though we saw the X10 Mini at MWC and have seen commercials for it, we just never get over how small the thing is. It’s a cute little phone that can totally corner the mini smartphone market. Well, if there’s such thing as a mini smartphone market that is. The X10 Mini looks to have customizable battery covers so you can rock all the pink, red, green, and silver you like. Though its big brother device disappointed us, maybe we’ll look at the X10 Mini in a different light. If just has to get here. [SE product blog]
The Xperia X10 Mini clears the FCC
The lovely little Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini just cleared the FCC and is maybe on its way to release, well, somewhere. Our previous report had pointed both the X10 Mini & X10 Mini Pro to our friendly neighbors to the north, Canada, but this particular device that cleared the FCC is packing European-friendly bands.
Does this put a damper on the expected Rogers release date of May or June? It definitely wouldn’t be the first time Sony Ericsson delayed a device, that’s for sure (cf. Original Xperia X10) [fcc via engadget]
Xperia X10 Mini & X10 Mini Pro gets priced, coming May/June to Rogers ?
We don’t know if we’re being foolish in believing that Sony Ericsson can hit its target launch date, but the latest report hovering around is that the Xperia X10 Mini & X10 Mini Pro will hit Rogers in May or June. That time frame fits with the original summer timeline we heard previously and considering we felt both devices were ready back in February, it’s not that much of a reach.
Whether Sony Ericsson and Rogers can hit that date is of course another matter, but we’re hopeful they won’t bungle this release like the big brother Xperia X10. Surprisingly, the price of the X10 Mini & X10 Mini Pro on a new 3-year contract is expected to be rather affordable. The X10 Mini is expected to retail for $49.99 and the X10 Mini Pro will be priced at $69.99. That would be a great price point for the miniature versions of a once sought after phone. [mobilesyrup]
Xperia X10 Mini & X10 Mini Pro hitting Rogers this summer ?
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro are both expected to hit Rogers this summer. We’re not denying that it could happen, as when we played with the X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro at MWC they both felt ready, but given the ridiculous circumstances that have delayed their big brother device, the Xperia X10, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see these two somehow delayed as well. But maybe, just maybe with the Xperia X10 officially launching on Rogers on April 15th, these two will stay on track. Miracles can happen after all. [mobilesyrup]
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro get priced
If you’re interested in the Xperia X10 Mini and the X10 Mini Pro, they just received pricing for Europe. At roughly $410 (€300) for an unlocked X10 Mini and $450 (€330) for an unlocked X10 Mini Pro, they’re significantly less expensive than their elusive big brother the Xperia X10 and its reported $800 pricetag. Though getting official pricing is a good start for any device looking to launch, the X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro aren’t promised to hit Europe until May/June. As for a US release, remember that the Xperia X10 still hasn’t released here. Fool me once…
